From Nickelodeon to Movie Palace

Nickelodeons screened films and housed rows of seats facing a curtain the bisected the audience from the screen. The first movie palace was built in 1902 and was named the Regent. The transition into movie palace took place because early screening would take place in other buildings. Movie palaces became important because it showcased the new art form and housed a place devoted to cinema for the public.
